London Python Announce

Following the superb PyCon UK, there’s been a fair amount in interest shown in Python meetings in London, so I’m hoping for a good turn out this time. The venue this time is the ThoughtWorks UK office (map here). I’ll be there at seven, and aim to have someone speaking at half past or so.

I’m sure we’ll end up in the pub at some point, though.

This means that we can do presentations and demos and the like, so I’m looking for speakers. Any of the sessions or lightnings from PyCon UK would be very suitable.

Please comment below if you plan on coming - I’d like to get some idea of numbers - and especially if you’d like to give a talk. Hope to see a lot of you there!

Sorry, people, it’s been quite a while. What can I say, I’ve been busy.

Anyway, I’m sure we are all keen to hear some war stories from the EuroPython attendees, so how about a meetup at the Old Bank of England on the 31st, pairing up with the London 2.0 crowd?

The Porterhouse, Covent Garden seemed rather popular last month, so I though we’d use it again. Once again, I’ll try and get there in time to get a table, but even if I can’t, we always seem to manage to get a fair amount of space as the evening wears on.

Of course, the BBC Backstage London Christmas Bash is the place to be seen this Christmas, but it’s very oversubscribed, so do we want a separate Python meetup this December?

Just a reminder - there’s a Python meetup tonight at The Porterhouse, 21-22 Maiden Lane, Covent Garden, London WC2E 7NA. Just pitch up any time after work, and look for the bunch of nerds with a tin of Spam on the table.

It’s about time the London Python meetup group had a home of its own, so I’m very grateful to Remi at Web Faction for hosting londonpython.org.uk. Menno has already set up London Python Planet, and here I’ll be announcing any events that I think might be of interest to London based Pythoneers.
