London Python Meetup, Wednesday, October the 8th
We’ll be running a Python meetup on Wednesday the 8th here at the ThoughtWorks UK office, (map here). We’ll start at 7p.m. for pizza, 7:30 for talks.
Any volunteers for talks and lightnings? If need be, I can run an improved version of the mock testing talk I gave at PyCon UK this year, but if anyone has a talk they’d like to give, that would be great.
I’ll need some lightning talks for certain. Remember - anyone can do a lightning. You don’t need to be any kind of expert; a plea for help or advice makes a perfectly good lightning. Expertise is welcome too, of course.
A pet project, a new library you’ve come across recently, a learning experience you’ve had, anything. Please, don’t be backward coming forward!
Again, a couple of volunteers to help me out with letting people in, leading people to a pre-arranged pub afterwards and so forth would be great, too.
Please leave a comment if you’re coming, so I can arrange beer and pizza. If you have any Python-curous friends or colleagues, try to drag them along too.
If you can’t make it this time, do subscribe to the feed so you’ll be up to date with future meetings. Or would people prefer a London Python mailing list? Do let me know…

I’m afraid I won’t be coming as I’m not in London on Tuesdays.
Still, I hope it goes well.
Urm, the 8th October 2008 is a Wednesday…
Doh - I meant *Wednesday* the 8th. Corrected now…
I hope to be there.
I’ll be there
Count me in too, Thanks.
Will be there. Great to see that you’ve moved it to a Wednesday, it no longer clashes with the Flag&Bell meetup
PS I’d be happy to help out with standing at the front door, or other duties as required.
Yeah! I’ll be there
Well, looks like I’ll be able to make it then.
I’ll be there, thanks for organising.
Business and family permitting, I will be there.
I hope I can make it, and might bring some colleagues too.
With regards to feed vs. mailing list, I think using Upcoming or Meetup should do the trick.
I’ll be there.
I’ll be there
I should be there, I can give a lightning talk on something too. I would also ask for a mailing list rather than a RSS feed as I have emotional issues with RSS.
I plan to be there
I should be there. I’m a python-curious perl programmer. A london-python mailing list would be very useful. It would probably be a good idea to have a seperate ‘announce’ mailing list (all of which gets copied to the discussion list) as well. And for those people who don’t like RSS - take a look at rss2email.
I’ll be there. Thank you for organising this.
I’ve not been to a London Python meetup before but I’d love to come. See you there.
I’d like to come. See you on the 8th.
Yes, +1
I’ll be there on 8th of oct.
Hi, sounds great, count me in, thanks!
I’ll be there.
I will be there, along with one colleague who could do a lightning talk on http://www.simpledbdev.com (it’s written in Python) if you are still looking for lightning talks.
I think I can make it to this one, wh00t!
I should be able to make it. See you there!
Looking forward to it, thanks! I do tend to miss these meetings because I’m not paying attention to the feed, so I think the mailing list would be a great addition.
PyCon sparked my interest so I’ll be coming along.
I will be there.
I think I can make it - I can redo my PySmell lightning talk, if needed.
This time I will finally make it to a london python thing. Yes, I will be coming.
I’ll be there
I’ll be there
I’ll be there, but not for the pizza. I’ll arrive at 7:30.
Looking forward to my first Python meetup
I’m visiting from the US but would love to come along. I could even talk about Pinax if anyone is interested.
Looking forward to this [hope no fires to put out at work ]
I’ll be there
I’ll be there
I’ll be there but without a navigator so I might have to rely on my FreeRunner instead, expect me to be late (but save me a beer
I’ll be there.
I’ll be there too!
I might be nearer 7:30 than 6:30 but I’m aiming to be there.
I’ll be there…
I’ll be there
Sorry, some work stuff has come up and I won’t make it tonight. Hope you have a productive evening.
